High Polyphenol Olive Oil, Measured Batch by Batch
610 mg/kg polyphenols in our published lab analyses: the number behind the words high polyphenol and high phenolic. 0.29–0.31% free acidity, well under the 0.8% maximum for extra virgin olive oil. K-values are recorded on every batch and each harvest gets a full laboratory analysis by Multichrom Lab in Crete, published against its LOT number so you can read our lab analyses before you buy.
Koroneiki Olive Oil from Messara, Crete
Never blended. 100% Koroneiki from our own family estate in Phaistos, in the Messara plain of southern Crete, grown without pesticides. One region, one variety, one harvest in every tin.
Early Harvest, Hand-Picked, Cold Extracted
This early harvest olive oil is hand-picked in early November and pressed within hours, below 27°C (80°F), with slow kneading and natural centrifugation. Nothing is rushed and nothing is heated. That is how the oil keeps its vibrant green colour, its intense fruit and its polyphenols.
Fresh in 1 L, 3 L and 5 L Tins
Rested in nitrogen-sealed steel tanks, filled into a light-proof metal tin and shipped in a reinforced carton, so the oil arrives as it left the mill. Choose the 1 L tin for the table, or the 3 L and 5 L tins if you cook with olive oil every day.
Bold Flavour for Every Use
Grassy and peppery with a clean bitter finish. Right for salads, drizzling, cooking, dipping and frying. Our own ritual stays simple: toasted bread, feta, olive oil. One estate, one variety, one harvest, and a lab report for every batch.
What makes an olive oil high in polyphenols?
Mainly the variety, the harvest date and how the oil is made. Koroneiki is a variety known for its polyphenols, early harvest olives carry more of them than ripe fruit, and cold extraction below 27°C (80°F) helps keep them in the oil. All three apply to Memilon Crete, and our published lab analyses measured 610 mg/kg. You can taste it in the peppery catch at the back of the throat.
Why is it packed in a tin?
Light speeds up the oxidation of olive oil and wears down its polyphenols and flavour. An olive oil tin blocks light completely, and the oil rests in nitrogen-sealed steel tanks before filling to limit contact with oxygen. Once opened, keep the tin closed, away from the stove and out of direct sun.
How can I check the polyphenols in my olive oil?
Only a laboratory analysis gives a real number; taste can only hint at it. Every Memilon tin carries a LOT number that traces back to its harvest date, bottling date and lab report. Enter your LOT number here to see the polyphenols, acidity and K-values of your batch once your tin arrives; before you buy, you can read our published lab analyses.
