Three generations, two Greek islands and one refusal to compromise: never blend, never rush, and never claim what the laboratory has not confirmed. What began as a small shop in 1958 is now an extra virgin olive oil that customers in the US, UK and Germany choose because they can verify it.
How We Got Here
The Beginning
Our grandfather Stelios opens a small shop and names it Afthonia — abundance. It sells what the land around it produces, and it builds its reputation on one habit: never selling something you would not put on your own table.
Next Generation, Same Values
Our parents take over the shop and the focus narrows to olive oil — first from Crete, then from Lesvos. Two islands, two varieties, and the beginning of the relationships with growers that still supply us today.
Olive Oil — A Way of Life
The whole family is immersed in production: harvest timing, malaxation temperature, storage, what a good year smells like and what a bad one does to a number. Knowledge accumulated the slow way, season by season.
International Recognition
We set out to formalize what the family had been doing informally for decades — a product and a service with a name, a standard, and proof attached. Memilon becomes the way we put that on paper.
Mission & Forward
Exports have grown fivefold since 2020, and the United States is now our fastest-growing market. We designed a protective carton so the tin arrives as it left, we ship fresh stock on a 15-day cadence, and the shop and the lab records are available 24/7. The mission stays the same as 1958: abundance, honestly earned.
